SURFACE PREPARATION:
Apply only to a sound, completely dry, well prepared roof surface. Leaks should be repaired before any coating is applied. If a primer was applied, it is essential that the primer surface is clean and dry and free of all moisture. If no primer was applied, prepare surface by thoroughly pressure washing with a water and chlorine mixture using at least 1500 P.S.I. to remove any previous coatings, dirt, grease, and other foreign materials, especially mold, mildew and algae. PERMASIL PLUS™ will resist mildew growth but will not kill mildew already on the surface. Patch any holes, cracks, flashings, valleys, vents, etc., with PERMAPATCH™ Elastomeric Patching Compond, a Waterproofing Caulk and Sealant. Tape & seal all seams with PERMATAPE™, a Polyester Fabric Tape or PERMASTIK™ Butyl Tape.

Metal: Clean surface of all grease, oil and foreign matter before priming. Rusted metal and uncoated metal must be primed with METAL-PRIME RED-OX™ Rusted Metal Primer Sealer, a Red Iron Oxide Primer Sealer. Use a degreaser on galvanized or coated metals which have oils or surface treatments. Check PERMASIL PLUS™ adhesion on galvanized or coated metal by applying to a small area and evaluating after 48 hours. If lack of adhesion is present after evaluating, metal must be lightly scuffed without penetrating the coated finish or galvanizing. If applicable, use METAL-PRIME RED-OX™ to spot prime any areas which may have been penetrated down to bare metal.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Mix well before using. At low speeds mix with a variable speed drill with a jiffy mixer to suspend any settled pigments until a uniform color and consistency are achieved. Mixing time will vary based on temperature and atmospheric conditions. Do not thin, use product as is. Do not apply when temperatures are below 45 degrees Fahrenheit or when humidity is very high. Do not apply when substrate temperature is above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not apply over wet insulation or related materials. Do not apply when coating will be subjected to rain or heavy dew before it has had enough time to dry (approx. 2 to 4 hours). Drying time will vary depending on temperature, humidity and location.

Apply using brush, roller or approved airless spray equipment. Spread coating uniformly. Spread Rate will vary depending on surface. Graph roof into sections to ensure minimum amount of silicone is applied. Pour and roll when possible. Apply each coat at 1 gallon per 100 square feet at 16 mils wet film thickness which will dry at 15.5 mils dry film thickness. Wait at least 12 hours before applying a second coat and apply second coat within 48 hours. Two coats resulting in a minimum 30 mil total dry film thickness is recommended and is required for 10 Year Limited Material Warranty.

Airless Sprayers: Use at least a 4,500 psi with a 3 gallon per minute output fed by a 5:1 transfer pump. Spray gun with a minimum tip size of .019.

Clean Up: Clean up all spills, tools and overspray immediately while the coating is still wet with virgin mineral spirits.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Since the coatings are atomized into a very fine particle distribution during spray application, it is essential that maximum effort is made to protect the spray applicator and others near the workplace from undue exposure.

PROTECTION of the WORKPLACE:
Overspray from PERMASIL PLUS™ can carry considerable distances and attention should be given to the following: Post warning signs a minimum of 100 feet from the work area. – Cover all intake vents. – Minimize or exclude all personnel not directly involved with the spray application. – No welding, smoking or open flames. – Have CO2 or other dry chemical fire extinguisher available at the job-site. – Provide adequate ventilation.

HEALTH and SAFETY: Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available on this product. Any individual who may come in contact with these products should read and understand the SDS. The Best Silicone Roof Coating is intended for application only by professional applicators. Avoid breathing of vapor or spray mist. Should not be applied when the wind is of sufficient velocity to cause overspray of adjacent areas, buildings or people.
