PERMATAPE™

PERMATAPE™ is a lightweight high strength material for waterproofing and reinforcing, when used in conjunction with an elastomeric coating or primer saturant. The fabric is 100% polyester continuous filament, spunlaced structures, entangled hydraulically to form a strong, yet conforming membrane. PERMATAPE™ offers the user a new material with extraordinary physical and chemical properties, replacing fiberglass and organic felts, and is non-irritating to the skin. It maintains its physical properties when wet and is dimensionally stable during humidity changes.
PERMATAPE™ has excellent chemical resistance and is also resistant to rot and mildew. It is used to strengthen and reinforce seams and potential problem areas.
The design of the fabric tape eliminates air pockets and allows the elastomeric coating or primer saturant to flow through and absorb, forming an impenetrable barrier to water and most other liquids. The excellent conformability of the fabric makes PERMATAPE™ perfect for irregular applications on vertical or horizontal surfaces.

PERMATAPE™ can be used on any substrate with which the saturant is compatible. Refer to the Product Uses of the data sheet for the specific coating or primer saturant that will be used. Also check out self-adhesive PERMASTIK™ Butyl Tape

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Refer to the Surface Preparation of the data sheet for the specific coating or primer saturant that will be used.

RECOMMENDED SATURANTS: Include, but are not limited to: PERMAGRIP™, ROOF-PRIME™, PERMABOND™ Bonding Primer, METAL-PRIME RED-OX™ Rusted Metal Primer Sealer, or ULTRA PRIME™, using a minimum 1.5 gallons of saturant per 100 square feet of tape (Amount of saturant may vary due to porosity and condition of surface):
2” x 100’ = .25 Gallons          4” x 100’ = .5 Gallons          8” x 100’ = 1 Gallon

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Apply a liberal amount of saturant to the surface area to be taped about 2 to 4 inches wider than the tape so that the total area underneath the tape is saturated. Tape must be laid or rolled into the WET saturant. Do not coat too big an area since the saturant might dry before the tape can be applied. Form the tape into the wet saturant conforming it to the contour of the surface thereby eliminating any air pockets, wrinkles or bunching up of the tape. A high density, short nap roller can be used on even surfaces to flatten and smooth out the tape. Let this procedure dry for approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Apply a second light coat of saturant over the tape thus sandwiching the tape between the two coats of saturant. Let this final coat of saturant dry for approximately 1 to 2 hours before applying a primer or coating.
