PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL is a Rubberized aluminum look coating for most roofs. An Insulative and Reflective Ceramic, Waterproofing Protective Elastomeric Roof Coating. Originally designed for metal roofs to provide unmatched flexibility and resistance against harsh weather conditions. It forms a durable rubber-like ceramic shield of protection that expands and contracts with varying hot and cold temperatures, plus excellent resistance to thermal shock. PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL can reduce energy costs and can lower surface temperatures up to 100 degrees.
Recommended for well draining, wood, metal, concrete and various other substrates. PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL is ideal for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
Apply only to a sound, completely dry, well prepared roof surface. Leaks must be repaired before any coating is applied. If primer was applied, it is essential that the primer surface is clean and dry and free of all moisture. If no primer was applied, prepare surface by thoroughly pressure washing with a water and chlorine mixture using at least 1500 P.S.I. to remove any previous coatings, dirt, grease, and other foreign materials, especially mold, mildew and algae. PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL will resist mildew growth, but will not kill mildew already on the surface. Patch any holes, cracks, flashings, valleys, vents, etc., with PERMAPATCH™, a Waterproof Caulk and Sealant. Tape & seal all seams with PERMATAPE™, a Polyester Fabric Tape or PERMASTIK™ Self-Adhesive Seam Tape. Clean surface of all grease, oil and foreign matter before priming. Rusted metal and uncoated metal must be primed with METAL-PRIME RED-OX™, a Red Iron Oxide Primer Sealer. Use a degreaser on galvanized or coated metals which have oils or surface treatments. Check PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL adhesion on galvanized or coated metal by applying to a small area and evaluating after 48 hours. If lack of adhesion is present after evaluating, metal must be lightly scuffed without penetrating the coated finish or galvanizing. If applicable, use METAL-PRIME RED-OX™ to spot prime the penetrated areas, then use PERMABOND™ Primer for entire coated or galvanized surface. PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL is ideal for residential, commercial and industrial applications. For flat roofs or limited ponding water situations inquire about PERMAKOTE PLUS®, Limited Ponding Water Roof Coating.
Nationwide premium elastomeric roof coatings can be applied with a brush, roller or airless sprayer. Use at least a 1 gallon per minute piston type airless spayer with a maximum tip size of .027. Remove all line and gun filters before spraying.
The roof surface to be coated must be in SOUND condition. Physically inspect the surface area for missing or damaged building materials. Replace and/or repair all damaged areas.
High pressure clean entire roof surface with at least 1500 P.S.I. of pressure using a water and chlorine solution.
Apply coats of METAL-PRIME™ RED-OX as needed and patch remaining imperfections with PERMAPATCH™.
Tape all visible seams, valleys, large cracks & fractures prone to water intrusion on roof surface with PERMASTIK™.
Apply a uniform coat of PERMABOND™ across entire preped roof surface.
Apply 2 full coats of PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL 12 hours apart, sit back and admire your freshly Painted Roof.
Download Detailed InstructionsStandard product coverage on a smooth surface for PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL is 100 sq. - 150 sq. ft. per gallon per coat. Rough or uneven surfaces may require additional product. Two coats of PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL is recommended for a longer life.
Make sure PERMABOND® is completely dry before proceeding with additional coats. PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL dries in approximately 2–4 hours, but it is recommended to allow 12 hours between coats to allow for variations in weather and thickness. PERMAKOTE® SILVER SEAL continues to cure for up to two weeks after application. Dry times are dependent upon the thickness of application, humidity and weather. Some conditions, such as low temperature, high humidity, evening and morning dew, can increase curing times.
