ALUMASHIELD™ is an aluminum filled, water-based, low emissivity (low-e) Interior Radiation Control Coating (liquid applied thermal barrier).
ALUMASHIELD™ is designed mostly for application to the underside of a building’s roof, but can be applied to the interior sides of exterior walls. It will dramatically reduce the amount of radiant heat entering the structure.
ALUMASHIELD™ is a non-emitter of radiant heat because of the inert aluminum pigment. Aluminum properties block up to 82.2% of the radiant heat normally transferred through roofs into air space below. It helps stop radiant heat from escaping and also keeps heat inside during colder months. This results in a significant reduction in the cooling requirements of the building in warm weather, without sacrificing the building’s ability to retain heat in cooler weather which will also decrease energy consumption.
ALUMASHIELD™ lowers the emissivity (heat that passes through) of the surface to which it is applied with an emissivity rating of .178 which exceeds the requirement for IRCC, and is categorized under ASTM standards as an IRCC, Interior Radiation Control Coating. ALUMASHIELD™ will reduce the average utility bill and is an excellent low-cost substitute for metallic foils and metalized plastic film radiant barriers. ALUMASHIELD™ has an unlimited life cycle and will last as long as the surface it is applied to.

Aluminum filled, water-based, low emissivity, interior radiation control coating (liquid applied thermal barrier) that performs like a radiant barrier. For underside of roof surface or interior walls.
Dramatically reduces & blocks radiant heat from entering a structure.
PRODUCT USES:
ALUMASHIELD™ is designed for interior use only. ALUMASHIELD™ is designed mainly for the underside of roofs, especially attic decks but can be used on the interior side of exterior walls also. There must be air space on one side of the ALUMASHIELD™ to be effective. We recommend a minimum of 2 inches of air space. It can be applied to COX or OSB plywood, plywood, metal, concrete, plasterboard, siding panels, sub-floors, drywall, or most any building material.
ALUMASHIELD™ can be used for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial applications.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Apply only to a clean, dust-free, completely dry, sound and well prepared surface.
Metal: Rusted metal and uncoated metal must be primed. ALUMASHIELD-M™ metal formula must be used.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Mix thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes stirring by hand with a wooden paddle. Do not use a mechanical shaker. Product should be used as is. Do not tint, add water or any other additives.
ALUMASHIELD™ should be applied at temperatures between 40 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Adequate ventilation must be present before, during and after application. If adequate ventilation is not present, use a form of mechanical ventilation 10 minutes before, during and 30 minutes after applying ALUMASHIELD™.
Apply using brush, roller or spray. Spraying is the preferred and most effective application method to maximize desired results. Where spraying is not practical, ALUMASHIELD™ can be applied using a short nap roller cover.
Apply at 3-4 mils wet film thickness, resulting in .7 to .8 mil maximum dry film thickness. Applying too much product may result in decreased effectiveness.
Airless Sprayers: Use at least a ¾ gallon per minute piston type airless sprayer with a tip size of .013 to .015. Remove all line filters and gun filters before spraying.
CLEAN UP:
Clean up all spills, tools and overspray immediately while the coating is still wet with warm soapy water.
