DECK GUARDIAN™ Elastomeric Deck Coating and Paint is an elastomeric waterproofing acrylic, insulating ceramic, high build, wood and concrete urethanized deck coating and liquid rubber alternative. It is a high technology waterborne formulation of elastomeric, 100% acrylic resin and urethane resulting in a flexible, yet tough and durable, aesthetically pleasing deck paint and surface deck coating. Elastomeric deck paint can expand and contract with porous wood yet is durable and hard enough to accommodate deck traffic. Deck restoration using DECK GUARDIAN™
Deck Coating on patio, lanai and pool decks as waterproofing paint. We can match competitors colors or custom colors in this elastomeric deck paint. DECK GUARDIAN™ effectively penetrates, seals, waterproofs and protects new wood and aged wood while resisting moisture penetration, and subsequent rotting and decay, thus protecting against cracking, splitting and warping of wood. DECK GUARDIAN™
Deck Paint deck paint can fill dimensionally unstable cracks up to ¼”. It has excellent mildew resistance and possesses ultraviolet resisting pigments that slow down the damaging effects of the sun’s U.V. rays. It protects and beautifies wood surfaces. DECK GUARDIAN™ qualifies for a Class A Fire Rating. Longevity and wear is relative to the amount of foot traffic to which the product is subjected. Periodic recoating of high traffic areas may be necessary. DECK GUARDIAN™ has a sand pumice mixture additive called DECK GUARDIAN SKID-TEX™ that can be added prior to coating to create a beautiful texture finish with excellent anti-skid properties. The amount of DECK GUARDIAN SKID-TEX™ can be adjusted to be a light texture or heavy texture depending on desired preference. DECK GUARDIAN™ deck coating is ideal for waterproofing and restoration of damaged decks and patios instead of total replacement.

DECK GUARDIAN™ can be used on interior or exterior new or old: wood, plywood, composite wood, masonry and concrete surfaces as a liquid rubber alternative. DECK GUARDIAN™ possesses excellent adhesion and can be used over previously coated or stained, well weathered surfaces using proper preparation. Check for compatibility by testing an area and checking after 72 hours for adhesion and compatibility. DECK GUARDIAN™
Deck Coating deck paint is excellent for use on decks, docks and spas.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
For proper adhesion and penetration it is essential that the surface is prepared properly. Smooth new wood should be lightly sanded with 80 to 100 grit sandpaper to remove mill glaze. Pressure wash all other wood with a water and chlorine solution using at least 1500 P.S.I. to remove any previous coatings, mildew, dirt, grease, grime and other foreign materials. If wood is weathered and has remained dark or silver gray after pressure washing, apply a solution of 1 part chlorine and 2 parts water and scrub with a stiff brush, then pressure wash again. Pressure treated wood must be weathered, dried and aged a minimum of 6 months before coating. All surfaces must be completely dry before applying DECK GUARDIAN™. Do not coat soaked, wet or moist wood with this product!
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Stir well before using. If applicable, add desired amount of DECK GUARDIAN SKID-TEX™ by using a mechanical mixer. Gradually add the DECK GUARDIAN SKID-TEX™ as you are spinning the product. Do not apply when temperatures are below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, or when humidity is very high. Do not apply to extremely hot surfaces or in direct sunlight. The surface must be dry and free of all moisture. On uncoated wood, reduce the first coat only, with 1 pint water per gallon to achieve penetration. Coat from a dry area into an adjoining wet coated area. Keep the leading edge wet and distribute the product evenly. Quickly remove puddles and excess material. Use natural breaks as boundaries and coat individual boards from end to end. Do not apply when coating will be subjected to rain or heavy dew before it has had enough time to dry (approximately 1 to 2 hours). Drying time will vary from location to location depending on weather conditions.
Stir product occasionally during use, especially when DECK GUARDIAN SKID-TEX™ is added. Apply using brush, roller or appropriate spray equipment (hopper type sprayer will be necessary when DECK GUARDIAN SKID-TEX™ is being used). Do not apply too heavily so that puddling occurs. When spraying, back roll with a thick nap roller cover. When rolling, use a thick nap roller cover. Sets to touch in approximately 1-2 hours. Wait at least 12 hours before recoating. Two coats of DECK GUARDIAN™
Elastomeric Deck Coating are recommended. Extremely cracked and damaged surfaces may require additional coats. Apply as it is from the container, unless otherwise specified. Wait 24 to 48 hours for foot traffic, and at least 72 hours before placing any furniture on the coated surface, depending on weather conditions.
CLEAN UP:
Clean up all spills, tools and overspray immediately while the coating is still wet with warm soapy water.
