SOLARGUARD™

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: SOLARGUARD™ is an acrylic urethane, high-performance commercial grade clear gloss sealer and protective coating. This is a zero V.O.C. waterborne formulation of acrylic and urethane resins. New technology gives the convenience of water clean up while surpassing the durability of solvent-based products. Designed specifically for Glass Solar Panels but can be used on most glass surfaces. Check for adhesion and compatibility before doing the entire area. It has excellent penetration on porous surfaces and superior adhesion on non-porous or compatible previously coated surfaces. SOLARGUARD™ possesses excellent durability and provides for increased water and chemical resistance plus superior resistance to ultraviolet degradation. Film hardness provides excellent mar, scratch and abrasion resistance. SOLARGUARD™ dries to a beautiful decorative, non-yellowing clear gloss finish. SOLARGUARD™ is an easily maintained protective finish that will last for many years and has excellent recoatability.

SOLARGUARD™ USES: SOLAR GUARD™ can be used as a commercial grade clear sealer and clear top coat on most any interior or exterior surface. It can be used on either uncoated or previously painted surfaces. SOLARGUARD™ may not be compatible over some surfaces. To insure compatibility, test a small area and check it after 48 hours. SURFACE PREPARATION: For proper adhesion and penetration it is essential that the surface be properly prepared. Surface must be pressure washed with at least 1500 P.S.I. of pressure using a water and chlorine solution (approx. 1 qt. of chlorine to 5 gal. of water). Thoroughly remove all dirt, oil, grease, residues, mold, mildew, algae and any other surface contaminants. Severe mildew requires a stronger concentration of chlorine. TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) should be used to clean oil and grease stains. GLASS SOLAR PANELS: Surface should be pressure washed and then wiped down with vinegar to remove any remaining residue.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Stir well before using. Do not apply when temperatures are below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or when humidity is very high. Do not apply when coating will be subjected to rain or heavy dew before it has had enough time to dry (approx. 1 to 2 hours). Do not apply the product to hot surfaces directly in sunlight, this may cause the coating to dry too quickly and reduce or prevent proper penetration and adhesion. Drying time will vary depending on temperature, humidity and location. Apply using brush, roller or spray. Apply uniformly and do not leave puddles or build ups. GLASS SOLAR PANEL APPLICATION: Apply SOLARGUARD™ using a low pressure sprayer or hand pump sprayer. Use a foam brush to feather in any runs or drips. Wait at least 1 to 2 hours between coats, but application of second coat recommended within 48 hours to insure proper bonding between coats. SOLARGUARD™ will not water spot after drying for 2 to 3 hours. CLEAN UP: Clean up all spills, tools and overspray immediately while the coating is still wet with warm soapy water. STRICT MANUFACTURER’s SURFACE PREPARATION and APPLICATION PROCEDURES must be followed. Deviations from these procedures will void any fitness and use of this product.
